Cachet privacy policy

Last updated 25 October 2026

Cachet does not collect, store or share any personal data. Everything it does happens on your Mac.

What Cachet looks at

With your permission, Cachet looks at the names, sizes and dates of files and folders in your home folder to work out what can be safely removed. It never reads what’s inside your files. To know which apps are installed, it reads each app’s name and identifier from the app itself.

What leaves your Mac

Nothing. Cachet has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting service, and it does not send any information to us or anyone else.

Stored on your Mac

Cachet keeps a short history of your scans (dates, free space and totals by category) so it can show what changed. It stays in Cachet’s own storage on your Mac and is removed if you delete Cachet.

On-device AI

For some folders, Cachet uses Apple’s on-device language model to suggest which app created them. This runs entirely on your Mac; only the folder’s name and location are used, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Purchases

The optional Clean purchase is handled by Apple through the App Store. We don’t receive your payment details. Apple’s privacy policy applies to purchases.

Your permission

You choose your home folder once, in the standard macOS Open dialog. macOS remembers that choice. You can remove it at any time by deleting Cachet.
